Night serum

Review | Estée Lauder Night Serum

Woohooooooooo!!!! I have finally received the gift that i won from a contest made by a very nice blogger Beautyowls. Check out her blog. She has some great reviews!

When i opened the package, there was a really nice fragrance to it. The serum box was wrapped in a golden silk paper. The bottle is really nice with a metallic red colour promoted for the Chinese New Year event.

Product claims:

Reveal a smoother, more radiant, younger look. Wake up to more beautiful skin every day.

Lines and wrinkles look significantly reduced. More than 75% of women felt their skin looked more youthful in just 4 weeks. Skin feels smoother, hydrated, stronger. 82% felt their skin was immediately hydrated.

The use of the eye dropper tool is really easy and i can simply apply the serum onto my skin. The eye dropper makes a big difference in how you use it and makes it more hygienic. Simply for that detail, i’m loving it.

As for the serum itself, the effect onto the skin matches their claims. The fragrance is not too pronounced compared to other serums which is good for me. It has a fluid texture which reminded me of a snail gel that i have. It has a slight yellowish transparent colour. It absorbs quickly and makes the skin automatically soft but not slick. It made my skin firm and made it feel like as if my skin was bit thicker.

Night serum

After a full face application and a couple of minutes later, my face did feel freshen up and smooth.  I also noticed that the very dry areas of my face were still dry. It was written that you need to apply it before your daily care. Thus why the very dry areas was not fully hydrated. Although, I’m happy that it didn’t make any parts of my skin red and it didn’t make it tingle which is big plus for me since I have very sensitive skin. In the morning, my skin looked healthy, shiny and soft. It felt better than having my daily night cream only.

I will still definitely use it again to see how my skin turns out after a couple of weeks. Although i would probably not purchased it simply because it is definitely an expensive night serum(118$ CAD), maybe during some big sales event.

That’s if for my review 😛 Hope it helped you.

Thanks for reading and take care 🙂

Natural Look Makeup Routine

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share with you my natural look makeup ritual. Sometimes i don’t wear any makeup but when i do, I would start by spraying my face with the Tarte Rainforest Mist booster to smooth my face and to use it as a primer. My review here.

Then i would apply my daily moisturizer. Either the Lancôme Bienfait Multi-Vital or the Clinique dramatically different gel moisturizer. The CLINIQUE gel is lighter on the skin(good for humid days, good for mixed skin and absorbs very fast). The Lancôme cream is good for winter since it’s a bit more oily and good for summer with 30 fps.

After moisturizing, i would apply the Misha BB cream n.23 (10-15$) or the Yves St-Laurent Touche Éclat B40 foundation (pretty expensive 65$ but i got it for 30$ yéé). The YSL is a half coverage foundation which i love since I still wanna look natural. I really love the texture, not thick at all and has a great fragrance. It leaves my skin looking great, barely oily. It is very lightweight on the face. It makes my face look and feel smoother. The Misha BB cream’s texture is a bit more thicker but it’s also a good moisturizer and has 42 fps, therefore it’s a bit oily.  Great for cold and dry days.

After the foundation, i would brush up my face with the Maybelline Dream Sun #3 bronzer powder for contouring. I find the color a bit too orangy. I need to find another. I only tested it on my hand, it look fine, but not on the face. 😦 I simply blend it on my face which makes it fine after. I then brush my cheeks with the Breathless Buxom blush. I love the color! I only apply a little, since it’s very pigmented.

For my eyes, i would use an eye shadow primer from Urban Decay(the original) and choose colors from the UD shadowbox palette(my review here) or the Maybelline nude smokey palette.

I don’t always wear mascara, but when i do, i  use the UD perversion mascara because it curls and makes my eye lashes thicker. The Lancôme Hypnôse mascara is also great, it makes my eyes lashes longer and keeps them quite thin. Mascara can dry up eyes very easily after a couple of hours and makes my eye tingle or itchy and makes me want to rub it which i shouldn’t. It can be very annoying by the end of the day.

Then, i puff my face with the Mac Blotte compressed powder (my review here) and finish with a thermal water spray from Vichy or the Grape water spray from Caudalie cuz brushing and puffing the face can make it a bit dry, so the thermal water hydrates the face and gives a natural and healthy looking skin.

At last, i moisturize my lips with the Pomegranate lip balm from Burt’s Bees that is a bit rosy cherry color which gives a natural looking lip color. It also smells good 😛

Well that’s it for my natural look makeup ritual. ;-P

My beauty looks collection

Hi everyone,

Since i was a child, i would love to buy magazines and collect beauty pictures which i kept in a folding binder. I still like to look at them, they inspire me for my makeup looks or for taking pics with models or even draw or paint. Here are some of the pics that inspires me.

Love the golden eye shadow under the eyes here. For more of artistic looking. Definitely wanna try something like that one day.

The colours here are exquisite.

A high end yet simple looking with the fake eye lashes and soft pink lipstick. Love the actress Song Hye-Kyo. She’s so pretty.

Love the dark aqua blue with the black eye shadow and nude lips color.

I really love this metallic lipstick color and the eye shadows colours combined together.

Some light nude colours for the eyes and a very bright lipstick colour can make a huge change. That neon pink is awesome.

Here’s more inspirational looks for thought:

For more, see my Pinterest page 😛

Here are some of the images that came from my makeup collection. As you can see, some of the images inspired me to doodle on them.

I’m sure some of you did the same thing as me before the popularity and the amount of stuff you can now find on the internet, you were probably also ripping magazines pictures and collecting them or even doodled on the photos. Did some of you do that or still do? Which inspirational beauty looks inspired you or that you absolutely loved before?

Tarte skincare travel set review

Hi makeup lovers!

Makeup is important yes so is the skin. I’ve come across this great Tarte skincare travel set that i absolutely love. The Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel is really great. It doesn’t leave my skin dry after wash. Love the citrus fragrance. It is obviously not for make-up removal nor does it exfoliate. It only washes the face for a regular daily use.

The Maracuja Oil, is still up for trial for me since i find it heavy for the face. Once you apply it, even a thin layer, you feel like you have this weight of the oil on your face it’s rather bothersome. But to rejuvenate the skin it’s great, of course not to be used on a daily basis i think. It would feel like it would block my pores. If i feel there’s too much on on my face, i would simply remove some with a tissue paper.

The Rainforest of the Sea Marine Boosting Mist is awesome. I spray it directly after i have finished washing and dried my face. Therefore before putting my daily cream on. It makes my face firm, slick and gives a natural shine to it. It’s also a good to use before applying the primer to make the makeup stay longer.

The Amazonian clay highlighter is great to brighten parts of the face. It gives a little beige chrome looking to the applied part of the face. The texture is soft but it stays well on the skin. To put after you applied your foundation.

The Cabana Boy lipstick is soooo smooth. I love it. I thought the colour would like a beige. Turns out it’s like a beige purple. It’s perfect for a nude looking makeup with a bit of edge or where the most attention of the makeup is drawn to the eyes. It’s different from i ever had. The texture of the lipstick is reallly SOFT. I’m really surprised and impressed by it.

I’m really happy that i got this travel set. I would definitely use it a lot. Have any of you bought this travel set? What did it do to you? Do you love it as much as i do? Please share you comments and critiques. I would be happy to hear about it 🙂

Mac Blot matte powder review

Hi Everyone!

Here’s my new product the Mac Blot matte powder. 😛

I have mixed skin, my most oily part of my face is the t-zone and the rest is dry skin.  I needed something that would help with my oily parts of my face without making it too dry. So i decided to search for a compressed matte powder. I’ve had a bare minerals matte loose powder. I didn’t like it in the end since it dried too much my skin and too much of powder was staying on my face. My face looked so textured instead of smooth.

I’ve tried the Urban Decay De-slick mattifying powder. It was quite dry (very compressed). It would probably mean that it would be hard to pick up the powder from the puff or even maybe from a brush. I’ve also tried the Tarte Smooth Operator pressed powder. The texture was so soft but it was not compressed enough, therefore too much of powder would come out. It might also leave creases near the eyes and it would create smile lines which i definitely would not want. I don’t wanna look old ahahah. I was stuck with these two choices. I didn’t know which one to choose. I’ve read reviews from both and they both had good reviews.

Then my makeup whore friend (i’m not disrespecting her, she totally knows it ahah. She knows much more about makeup than me and what are the good stuff, so i trust her :-P) suggested me the mac blot matte compressed powder. It costs less then the UD and Tarte one. 32$ is an okay price and for Mac. I’ve used it twice so far and i’m satisfied with it. It holds my makeup, leave my skin dry and my face feels light like as if i didn’t have any makeup on my face. Easy to bring to anywhere and the puff is a decent quality to use. My face looks smooth as if i had no powder on my face. I’m really happy that i found this product 🙂

How about you girls or guys? How did you find this mac blot matte product?

Urban Decay shadowbox palette review

It’s my second urban decay palette. Yeee. I’m now quite a big fan a urban decay products. I’ve bought the original eye primer, the spray to fix my makeup, mascara and eye liners. I got the shadow box in sale for 25$ at the Vente de l’Oreal. When i bought it, I was very happy to see that it was a small kit that i can carry at work to use and it is quite light compared to my spectrum palette which is pretty big, heavy and hard to hold.

The first color that I’ve tried was the Freelove and i wasn’t so pleased with the pigmentation. Then i’ve tried more colours and i was still disappointed. The colors definitely lack of opacity. The colors are very pale once i apply it. I have to apply several times so that the colors looks close to the one’s on the palette. The colors that are closest to the palette’s colors are Indo and moonshadow. The blackout is nice; a simple mat black… Flash is not bad. The textures of the colours are semi-smooth. I’m using the 239 mac brush and it picks up very well the colours and i blend the colours with 217 mac brush. They are very good brushes so the problem is definitely not my brushes but the lack of pigmentation. I’ve also applied original ud eye primer (which is a very good eye primer i believe much better than the face one) before applying the eye shadow.

On another, I’ve tried it the Freelove eye shadow colour again (which is my favourite colour of the palette for now i think) the pigmentation was better and i didn’t have to apply it a couple of times, just 1 was fine. In summary, the shadow box palette is not so bad. Maybe more suitable for work attire since the colours are not too saturated; a little less punchy. Though I’m glad that i got it in sale.
